Through the skillful application of pressure
to specific points on the hands and feet, a reflexologist
joins the silent dialogue within your body. Recieving reflexology
is like getting an internal massage! Practiced by diverse
cultures for many centuries, reflexology is much more than
a good foot massage. Reflexology is a science based on the
principle that there are areas, or "zones", in the
feet and hands which correspond to, or "reflect",
all of the glands, organs, and parts of the body.
A skilled reflexologist can stimulate these
points to help decongest the corresponding areas, and send
an increased flow of fresh, oxygenated blood to the tissues
for therapeutic effect. Although the soles of our feet contain
over 7,000 nerve endings (hence our love of a good foot rub),
the reflexology zones are not to be confused with our nervous
system, as they are a separate science. As both preventative
care and in response to specific injury or disease, reflexology
promotes the body's remarkable ability balance and heal itself.
