Many moons ago, when I recieved my first massage, I had a kind of epiphany. I loved it, and knew that I wanted to help others feel that way, so I became a Registered Massage Therapist. Soon after I also become a Reflexologist and a Reiki teacher. More recently, after years of practicing yoga, I decided to earn my 200hrCYT Yoga teacher certification, and I was thrilled to have been voted Best Yoga Instructor in the 2011 Port Perry Star Reader's Choice Awards.
I love this combination. I'm never bored and it keeps me out of trouble.
In 1995 I graduated from the 2,500 hour program at Toronto's Sutherland
Chan Massage Therapy School and Teaching Clinic, and
have since had a wealth of experience in my field.
Before moving to Port Perry in 2009, my practice was based at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children. From 2000-2009 I worked there in the following capacities:
- Staff and patient Masssage Therapist
- Member of the Palliative Care Team
- Researcher for the Department of Psychology in a 4-year study observing the effects of massage on kids recieving bone marrow transplants; and
- Teacher - I developed and taught a hospital Staff Holistic Self-Care Skills Series. I also teach these courses privately (see courses page), and on the faculty of Toronto's Sheena's Place, a support centre in Toronto for people with eating disorders.
While my training as a Massage Therapist was based on a solid Western medical model, my study of the Martial arts and yoga brought me to Eastern philosophies which have greatly influenced my work, providing a holistic inclusiveness that informs and deepens my practice.
In 2002 I achieved the Shinpiden level of Reiki under the wise and inspiring tutelage of Reiki Masters Tanya Kornobis and Lynn Jenkins. The experience was transformative. I taught Reiki year-round at Sheena's Place in Toronto from 2002-2009, and continue to practice and teach Reiki privately.
During my 14 years as a yoga geek I have studied Hatha, Iyengar, Ashtanga, Shivananda, Anusara, Moksha, and Flowyoga. After completing my 200-hr Teacher Training Certification, I set up my teaching practice in Port Perry. For more info regarding my Deep Roots Yoga classes please click on my yoga site:

My bodywork practice is comprised of Massage Therapy, Reflexology and Reiki, and is located in the lakeside community of Port Perry, Ontario at the Spa in the Port Perry Villa, at 15987 Simcoe St.
